Armed Security Jobs

After becoming a certified security guard, one of the things you might want to consider is becoming an armed security guard. There are various armed security jobs available that offer a higher pay compared to regular security guard jobs. Before you can become an armed security guard, you need to undergo additional training. Completing additional training will enable you to carry a firearm while on duty which means you have to bear extra responsibility.

Additional training covers handling of firearms and safety. Training programs vary depending on the state you are in, but generally, the training is extensive and requires a rigorous background check to ensure that you pass all the requirements needed to become an armed security guard. Application to become an armed guard is done through the Department of Justice or through the Security Bureau of the state you are in.

Why do you need to undergo training in firearms handling before you can become an armed guard? A formal training in handling firearms will include a number of practical coursework topics including self defense, weapons retention and laws regarding the use of firearms. A course in self defense will help you discover different techniques on how you can defend yourself both with and without the use of firearms. Weapons retention will allow you to learn ways in which to keep your firearms safe if you are attacked. There is always a possibility that your firearm can be taken by an attacker and used against you, so weapons retention will help ensure that you know how to retain your firearm in all situations. It will also teach you how to secure and lock your gun properly. This is important in armed security jobs. During training, you will also get to practice your skills in a firing range. This will help you get familiar with handling firearms and will help you be more comfortable in holding a gun. Learning the different laws is important. You will learn how to carry it, how to use it, and when you can fire it so that you do not violate the law. Responsibility in carrying a firearm is not only important in helping you become a certified armed guard but it is also crucial for the safety of those around you.

There are a lot of benefits in becoming an armed guard. One of the reasons why many guards choose to undergo armed security guard training is because of the potential to earn more. Aside from a higher pay, armed guards also have more opportunities in the security industry as they have better qualifications.

Former military personnel, police officers, peace officers, and licensed private investigators are actually exempted from completing the training hours needed to become an armed security guard. However, it is still necessary to register with your State, so that you can get hold of your card that will enable you carry a firearm. Being a certified armed security guard enables you to choose from many armed security jobs. It is something worth considering if you are looking to advance in your career in the field of security.
